Walt Carpenter "Special Grade" 7'6 2/2 5wt Bamboo RodFor sale here is a very special rod made by Walt Carpenter in 1989. He called it the "Special Grade" and or "Special Project". 7 1 2 feet for a five weight line. The rod was custom built for a customer desiring one of Walt's rods in the classic Payne cosmetic style. The rod remains in excellent plus condition and comes with its original bag and tube. On the medium side of medium fast action. Walt gave the rod a "tune up" as explained in the letter in

The power of glass in this rod is fantastic but feeling is absolutely retained

There is also a hairline crack on the rim

but nothing overly objectionable

The screws are in excellent condition

The rod has richly flamed cane

This reel was sold in the 1950's by Wallace Doak

but the varnish is not gummy
