Orvis "99" Bamboo Rod

Orvis "99" Bamboo RodFor sale here is a 8' Orvis Model 99 bamboo rod. Two sections with one tip. Serial #39339 built in 1965. Rod is in excellent condition. Label proposes a DT7 line weight (HCH), but a line size down usually works best. Two sections with one tip. The red silks and blued, Super Z style ferrules, contrast nicely with the darker cane. Original tube with almost all the label retained and a replacement bag. Rod weighs 4. 25 oz. Ferrule size 14 64.

Though marked for a 5wt line a DT4 would also suit the rod well

The box has a ding in one corner and a small nick on one edge

The reel has an adjustable drag setting and the spring tension is nice and strong

one being smaller in diameter

and was constructed as an homage to the classic Gar Wood "Wedding Cake"style reels built by Fin-Nor

The hard rubber is in fine shape with no chips or cracking

The rod comes with its original bag but I'm not certain if the tube is original or a replacement

The reel has a 3 1/4" diameter pillar to pillar

The rod features lightly flame-tempered cane with an almost pumpkin-tone color

Full-wells grip 6 1/2" in length with the protective plastic still in place though it has cracked a bit over time
