Sapphire

SapphireHere we have a beautiful natural purplish pink Sapphire from one of the most productive localities for the material in North America. This fine little sparkler is a very very slightly included "Round Brilliant" cut gem. This would make a great addition to a Sapphire suite, or a suite of gems from the United States as good stones from Montana are highly sought after in the gem world. Sapphire is also the birthstone for September making this stone a

jet-black cyclic twinned crystal group with unusual crystallization for the locality

and if you collect this material

and I would say the piece is equally a Sphalerite specimen as it is a Rhodochrosite specimen

An associated gem quality Quartz crystal on the base of the specimen is a great touch

as there is already associated Sphalerite on the reverse side that looks quite different from what’s on the front of the piece
