The first tote style bag I designed was the Luella (go to the product page to read about it here). Someone wanted one much smaller with a crossbody strap which I named after my maternal grandmother Mary (seen here). Then I had people say the Luella was too big, but the Mary was too small.

Mary didn't need to carry as much as mothers typically do

Back then women like her were farm wives who worked hard to support their hardworking husbands

John Klassen was a farmer in Southern Manitoba

I was struck by how in touch with modern trends she is and just wanted to honour her now that we're adults since I tortured her in our youth
