SOLD…..A tambour hook mounted on a boar's tooth. French 19thcAn unusual tambour hook using a boar's tooth as a handle. The fancy gilt mount has a wing nut which fixes the steel hook into position. 19th century. There are no marks but likely to be French and mid 19th century. Including the hook it measures 10. 5 cm long. 4 inches Stock no. JX45

It is stamped on the barrel 'John Sheldon 1086 Feb 8 1842'
The image of the King came from a painting by William Beechey 1753-1839
It has the usual decorative gilt band separating the top from the bottom
The piece is typically English c 1830-1840 incorporating a shell and flowers in the design
The metalwork is unpolished
English c 1800-1815
The hinge is now rather worn red velvet and it is slotted to take the red ribbon tie
The silver spring cover is decorated with diagonals
4 x 4 cm in diameter
There are three patterns -daisies
