Beech Lumber 55mm
Depending on growing zones and environments, Beech wood has different shapes and colors. Beech lumber is usually light yellow or soft pink in color. The sapwood is white with a tinge of red, while the heartwood color varies from light reddish brown to dark reddish brown. The wood has generally generally grains and an even texture.
Workability characteristics: Beech lumber is quite easy to mill and dries quickly but susceptible to warping, cracking and splitting on the surface. The wood also has a medium distortion and a large shrinkage.
Physical properties: European Beech lumber is stiff, heavy, strong, durable, with a high shock resistance and good characteristics for steam-bending. The wood also meets the Standard EN975 – 1 of Europe.
Durability: Beech heartwood is not resistant to decay. It is susceptible to normal woodworms and borers. Besides, Beech heartwood can take preservative easily.
Main uses: Tables, chairs, furniture, flooring, doors, carving, panelling, brush handles, especially suitable for making food containers because it has no odor and taste.
