Depending on growing zones and environments, Beech wood has different shapes and colors. Beech lumber is usually light yellow or soft pink in color. The sapwood is white with a tinge of red, while the heartwood color varies from light reddish brown to dark reddish brown. The wood has generally generally grains and an even texture.
Workability characteristics: Beech lumber is quite easy to mill and dries quickly but susceptible to warping, cracking and splitting on the surface. The wood also has a medium distortion and a large shrinkage.
