The painting is housed within a beautiful gilded frame with foliate borders and swept corners

These include the fact that it lacks an appropriate level of craquelure for a piece so old and also canvases were quite rare in the 16th-century

It’s painted in a classical style and depicts a riverside view with a bridge

His landscapes are also modest and tend to include animals rather than figures

We’ve been unable to locate it but hopefully it’s still standing in a village somewhere
